Bacon-Chipotle Peanut Brittle
We found this on the web (hat tip to Glenn) and it sounded so evil we had to try it:

1 pounds bacon, cooked crispy and crumpled
1 cup fresh roasted peanuts
1 cup light corn syrup
2 cups sugar
1/2 Tbsp chipotle (varying accord to desired heat - this is hot)
1 tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp butter (plus some for greasing the pan)
Candy Thermometer
Grease a shallow baking pan with butter.
Heat the sugar and corn syrup to about 280 F. It should be a clear syrup with lots of foam and bubbles. Add the chipotle and stir well. Heat to 300 F. Quickly add the butter. Mix well. Add the baking soda. Then moving fast, add the nuts and bacon, mix well, and pour into the pan. Spread and cool until hard. Eat.
No, we didn't give any to Kyli. She was bad about getting her paws washed and Noah found out what 59 pounds of limp dog feels like. Actually no one but Ben and I will touch it. That's good because it's all the more for us.
