They banned toy guns in Texas?
Kyli and I got the paper this morning as the goddess is in San Antonio with Ben for a science competition after our walk. Opening it with coffee, the headline that caught my eye was "Dallasites argue necessity of "nanny" laws." They give a list in the print edition (title is different online too) that includes red light cameras, which may be pulled for not making enough money (but, as Prof. Reynolds says, it is about safety!); required pooper-scoopers for pets; no smoking in bars; no toy guns in public places; monitoring the public library computers for porn; and the latest gem of no hand-held cellphones in school zones. In Dallas, that's gonna be a money maker. I never see a soccer mom that isn't welded to her cell.
I thought Texas had a tradition of expecting responsible adult behavior but the article makes it quite clear that the Dallas City Council thinks we all need keepers. I am so glad I live up here in the sticks. Now Dallas is a bit of a NE liberal enclave but banning toy guns? In Texas?
