If they lose,
will they then shut up? And will the jury of peers mean 12 M.D. Ph.D's or just the lowest common denominator they could find acceptable to the lawyers involved? Yes I'm being snarky but the idea that a jury of 12 will decide a scientific issue is really worrisome. Science does not involve agreement; it is not what scientist believe or what a jury decides. It involves testablity and what is real or not. This is the same stupidity as when some state decided to redefine pi as 3.

I wasn't aware about the class-action lawsuit, but I was aware of this case:

The kid had a pre-existing condition, that, evidently, her vaccination aggravated into producing autistic symptoms. But I agree with the feds: the vaccine is not the root cause of her autism.
It's stories like these that often feed into an irrational fear of mine whenever Daniel gets his shots -- and then I shake my head and we go to his doctor appointments.

Well, I just went and read that. I now have a reason not to read WND. The science is terrible and the courts are very very bad at deciding it. Connie can tell you there is evidence of a link. It's a hard saving but shit happens to kids and people are just trying to find anything to blame it one. A simple piece of evidence is vaccines no longer contain Hg and yet autism rates are still increasing. Why? No one knows...
However, people who don't vaccine are setting themselves up for horrors in several ways. One is vaccinations aren't 100% effect but treating the population is. So someone who doesn't vaccine their kid is endangering yours. (And personally I think suing them would be reasonable. I look forward to seeing some priest I know sued when his kids are found to be disease vectors.) It is not a personal choice in that these kids increase our risks. I think they should be banned from the public school and made to tell anyone who comes in contact with them "I'm unclean." Secondly, if you ever see the results of these diseases, and I know folks who had polio, the risk of vaccine is much less scary. Even autism is less horrible than what polio or smallpox will do to you.
And just think they called it small pox because the early more aggressive form of syphilis was called great pox.
Come talk to Connie if you are really worried. We can cook some bison for you and that danged musician you married.
