Gerrards Cross - a quiet two days reading patent applications
I got Noah to the airport on Saturday and the folks at AA got him ticketed. He wandered thru security looking for a bacon roll, which is just that - a roll cut in half and filled with English bacon. I got a cup of coffee and headed across London via the tube to the Marylebone train station where I caught the train to Gerrards Cross. I cocooned a bit and worked though some of my paperwork backlog while sitting in the sun drinking bitters. Sunday I wandered around a bit, walking around the common, petting dogs and watching folks enjoy the sunshine. Spring has arrived and everything is coming out.

Even these little fellows - can you see all five of them in the first shot? Only the young buck stood his ground when I got close. I guess you can't even bow hunt the commons as no deer in Texas would let you get this close - 20 yards at most.

I then wandered down to St. James Church. The domed part is older while the tower was added in 1818.

Turned out the fish and chips shop was closed and the Ethrope's pub backed up 30 minutes on dinner. I went over to Malik's and had the lamb biryani and the peshwari naan, a naan stuffed with pistachio paste. I now need another walk to burn that off.

Did you see the grave of Margaret Rutherford (famous English actress) in the church yard?

Andrew,
No I didn't. However I go by the church most days on my walk so next trip I'll go looking. One of these days I hope to see the inside.

Margaret Rutherford's grave is in the circle. Easy to find.
The church is open on Sunday mornings of course - and very busy.
Otherwise call the office and I'll show you around.

I'll have to take you up on the offer to call then. If I am in on Sundays mornings, I normally head down to London to Our Lady and the Royal Martyrs Cathedral for services.
Next trip is in June so I'll give you a call. Thanks.
