Taos and Colorado...and some excitement
We drove over to Taos and then to Castle Rock last weekend. Taos was as lovely and as bizarre as ever, like Austin times ten. It turned out Anita still runs Act 1 Gallery and Orlando's was still serving food. Otherwise, there has been a ton of growth and change since our last visit.
We went out to Arroyo Seco to look for a yarn store. It was closed but the view was lovely. The fishing was very good as it has been a very wet year.
After Taos, we drove up to Colorado Springs to visit our godkids and to Castle Rock for the annual A-List BBQ. Ben and Noah cooked in the CAT tent and Noah got some advice on weight lifting from Clint, a retired strongman competitor.
On the way home, we got hit with hail and ice storms in the NM mountians that ended in a relatively messy crash of the car we were following. We weren't involved other than the panic as a large truck came spinning down the highway in circles at us. The guy in the car in front of us was damaged and the resident doctor with her eagle scout assistant spent some time making sure the victim was okay until the EMTs arrived. Between that and the adenraline crash, we hit Amarillo late enough we spent the night.
