After lunch, I found the Musee Alsacien was directly across the river and the History of Strasbourg Musee nearby too. The Alsacien Museum was supposed to look at the life of the common people and it was very nicely done, if focused on the 1800-1900 hundreds.
Inside the house mimics the local style of construction and shows artifacts of local life. I found the woodwork to look very Germanic and the stoves to look very Russian - large heavy piles of masonry to hold heat. Apparently they were quite clever with the arrangement of these:
They also had a wood shop with a large heated worktable for using the glues and finishes of the day as well as an extensive Blacksmith shop.
After this, I headed down to the old town area along the river. It's a very pretty spot that's quite touristy.
The old fortress towers are at one end. You see others of these randomly around the city. Some appear to be residences.
Finally I went to J'mai Schultz for dinner. I tried the Muscat wine this time and it's not as exciting as the Gewurztraimner, Dinner was impressive with a onion tart, a guinea hen with nuts and mushrooms, and a plum tart for dessert.
Now to work some of this off and get ready for the next leg to Basel and Milan tomorrow.
