UK in Winter - Snowy, Cold and Dark
Well, I spent last week in the UK, arriving Sunday, and it was cold to start. The pond at the Gerrards Cross common was frozen

and the graveyard at St. James - I missed seeing the inside again - was frosted.

I walked over to the local Chinese place, The Good Life, and indulged in the lamb skewers, spicy northern lamb, and stir fried veggies. It's under new owner's and the food had gone from okay to wow.
The next morning we had about 6" of snow and everything was locked down. The snow and cold continued for the remainder of the week and really slowed things up. I did sneak out one day and walk pass the White Hart Inn

to Milton's Cottage, where Paradise Lost was written.

I also found the Cafe Rouge again, which was tucked farther away than I remembered. The cod cakes were excellent and the accompanying stew was perfect for the weather. I had a Hoegaarden beer, made with citrus and cardamom, which was surprisingly suited to the season.

The rest of the week was work and the weather was nasty enough I didn't wander. Got home on Saturday and again the Global Entry program is so worth it.
