We're gonna call it "Smaug"
We finally finished the furnace this week by making a door out of sheet metal - I really need a metal brake as doing this with a hammer and pieces of 2 by 4 really sucked - and then riveting it on. We then lined it with ceramic wool and used 2 fire bricks as the base.

We then fired the beast off in the middle of the driveway, just in case. No leaking tongues of fire though one burner does "spit" a bit at low pressure.

We reached a temperature of 2024 F or about 1100 C with 12 psi pressure. Since silver, gold, and copper all melt below 1100, we can cast those as well as handle moku game. To melt cast iron and forge weld we need to get to over 1290 C. With the ITC 100 coating and more pressure*, hopefully we can reach that without adding air. A look at he vent follows:

* My chili forge needs 22 psi to weld mild steel, which is in the same range.
