Chalfont St. Peter and the Greyhound Inn
Back in the UK, I stayed this time in Chalfont St. Peter, a village a few miles from our office. Unlike Gerrards Cross, which appears to be mostly a bedroom community for London, this village is more diverse and appears larger. At one of our firmware engineer's suggestions, I stayed in the Greyhound Inn, just off the main road.

It's a lovely sprawling place with old fireplaces, an excellent restaurant, and a large bar. Only ten rooms or so and the only difficulty I had was the lack of a laundry service after a week on the road. So the help just carried it over to and back from the local dry cleaners for me. Very nice people and it's only about 1.5 miles from the train station (less than 5 pounds by cab). It's on the bank of the Mistbourne River

and near the parish church.

The little town has 2 Chinese, 5 Indian, 3 other pubs, a kebab place, and a great Portuguese place within an easy walk. There is even a leisure center up the hill where you can lift and swim. Great place to stay and I'll probably use it again next time.

The cheese plate... all local cheeses they said.
